BELGRAVIA BASEMENT

In the heart of Belgravia’s conservation area lies a small cobbled street accessed through a low archway. MJ Rooney was contracted to form a basement below a mews house without disturbance to the surrounding properties or the daily business of the local community.

MJ Rooney began excavation and found massive unexpected concrete foundations that needed to be removed without noise or vibration. The design was then changed to use these foundations with the addition of a liner wall and to underpin the remainder of the property with traditional underpinning techniques. To finish a basement was constructed while the remainder of the above ground property was completely refurbished to a stunning level.
