BASEMENT SWIMMING POOL IN A HISTORIC COUNTRY MANSION

MJ Rooney constructed an impressive basement in Wrotham beneath the gardens of a historic country mansion. This project features a substantial swimming pool, complete with saunas and spa rooms, seamlessly integrated into the property via an underground corridor. The design ensures that the luxurious amenities feel like a natural extension of the house, even though they are situated in the garden.

The basement construction utilised Kingpost earthworks support, a system involving vertical steel posts (kingposts) and horizontal beams to stabilise excavation sites and transfer loads. This method was crucial for maintaining stability during construction. Notably, the project involved one of our most remarkable concrete formwork solutions, enabling the pouring of 7-metre-high walls in a single continuous pour. This project exemplifies MJ Rooney’s expertise in delivering complex and high-quality basement constructions, blending innovative engineering with sophisticated design elements.
